What exactly will I be carried by each team member for 2.5 miles?

That is up to your team to decide! When a team registers, they must choose a "Project Initiative Focus Area" that the team is dedicated to focus on. It is up to each team to transform their 'focus area' into tangible objects that can be carried above each team member's head. For example, if a team chooses "Computer Education" then they may decide to have each member carry laptops or computer components above their heads.

Will there be support vehicles?

Each team will be responsible for having its own vehicle. There will be an early meeting Saturday morning at a location in San Diego (TBA). There, the first teammates of each team will walk the first leg together. This is NOT A RACE; the participants will be walking together.

Support vehicles will follow along in a traffic conducive manner. Those who are not assigned to the present leg will make up the “Support Staff,” meaning every participant is part of the Support Staff.

Support Staff will be walking alongside the participants of each respective leg with signs, banners and posters designed to create awareness and attract attention. As we walk through down town areas of Del Mar, Encinitas and La Costa, Support Staff will be passing out promotional material and answering questions.

Where does the walk end?

The Event will conclude as the last walkers make their way to our SCHAP Headquarters in Carlsbad.  To celebrate the hard work of the day, there will be a BBQ that is included with registration.

How much does it cost?

The registration fee is $25 per person.

What’s included in the registration fee?

Every participant will be issued a New Edition SCHAP shirt and an invitation to the BBQ at the SCHAP House.

What’s this about sponsorships? How much am I required to raise?

Every participant will be required to raise $200 in sponsorships for the Event. This will translate to a requirement of $1,000 per team. Prizes will be issued to the top fundraisers and top fundraising teams, as many participants may be able to bring in much more than the minimum.

Our goal is to raise $30,000 for our 2010 PROJECTS through this EVENT!

We hope that this answers all of your questions! If you haven’t yet, make a couple calls to your friends, sign up as a team leader and get your other friends to sign up as your team members for SCHAP's 2010 Global Citizen Walk!
